John Boehner says the reason programs such as supplemental nutrition for poor women and their infants have to be cut is because, as a country, "We're broke." But that concern was nowhere to be found late last year when he insisted that the Bush tax cuts be renewed for the richest 2 percent of taxpayers, regardless of the impact on the ballooning deficit.
