Episode 5 of Boston Med. Marvin Pollet came to Mass General with a failing heart. After initially being turned down by his Health Care Provider his trip was finally approved. The Hospital Cardiologist (Dr Park) worked diligently to assess his condition and get him on the heart transplant list. As Marvin waited for a heart his condition worsened. As he got sicker and sicker his family was called and advised to come back. His loved ones sat their as a representative of the Hospital advised them that Marvin will be taken off the list as his condition had deteriorated. Jeanette Pollet (Marvin's wife) asked the Doctor if it was "his mother" lying there would he agree to stop treatment?

A true life "Death Panel" that exists today. To say that the new Health Care Reform bill will create them is wrong. They already exist.

God bless Marvin and his family!

The Insurance Porviderdid exactly what we all have been hearing about. They initially refused to pay for Marvin to go for treatment. Maybe just maybe had he been approved his life may have been saved. Will never know!

The Insurance Company mantra "if you get sick die quick"!

The new health bill isn't what I wanted, but at least insurance companies will have a limit on how much they can skin off the top before paying out claims.

It wasn't even a question of paying the claim. They refused to finance his trip from his home state of Louisiana. The Doctors there had failed to diagnose or recognize his dire condition. This man was in his 50's this scares the bejeezers out of me as I approach my mid 60's.
